Suggest Treatment For UTI

Hi Doc, I am female, age 46. since 2000 on wards, every 18 - 22 months i am attacked with urine infection. pus cells go high & since last two attacks even blood passes in the urine during the infection. After the first dose of antibiotic, the blood stops and even the infection is cured. What can be the issue to get this infection quite often?

Hello,

I think you should do an uroculture to see which bacteria is causing it and antibiogramme will show which antibiotic is best to be used.
Finishe the complete course and don't stop soon after first dosage.
Also, do an ultrasound to check for stones or other anatomical issues which increase infection predisposition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
