Hello dear user!
Welcome to HCM and thank you for your question!

It seems you have had a significant urinary infection with 50 puss cells. It usually requires a longer time of treatment.

The proper treatment in your case would be a cure with the drug you are using for at least 14 days.

You may continue with that medication for a week more or take Nitrofurantoin or Trimethoprim for 7-10 days more instead of it.

Meanwhile you have to drink a lot of fluids to raise the water excretion from you kidneys. The cranberry juice would help a lot too.

I hope you will get soon better results.
Best regards!
DR ERIOL.

Thank you for asking on HCM!

For for your Urinary Tract Infection (Acute Cystitis) here are my recommendations that will help you:
- Drink at least one large glass of liquid every hour.
- Avoid foods that irritate the bladder: caffeine, alcohol, tomatoes, citrus,
and spicy foods.
- Drink cranberry juice to help fight bladder infections. If you dislike the taste of plain cranberry juice, mix it 1:1 with another juice, such as orange juice.

The antibiotic that I would prescribe for you is Ciprofloxacin 500 mg one tablet twice daily for 10 days, and for the pain/burning sensation Pyridium 100mg three times daily for 1 to 2 days (this drug turns urine orange, but nothing to worry).

If the symptoms reoccur within 2 weeks of treatment I will suggest a urine culture and an abdominal ultrasound.

Hope you'll be fine ASAP!

Dr. Elton.
