Suggest Treatment For Seborrheic Dermatitis

hi, about a sweek ago to be exact ,i consulted a dermatoligist in a government hospital and she told me that I have some symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis. I do my research on the net and likewise believe what the dermatologist had told me. Currently i am experiencing the so called flares where my chin and nasolabial folds, areas around my eyes seems tighter and i can sense some flakes surrounding the area. I felt embarrassed more so uncomfortable with this situation, Do u recomend a lotion to releive myrelieve the itchiness or tiggtining up of my skin in those areas ? likewise, there are also red patches in some parts of my face. Please help me. Thanks

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are diagnosed appropriately with Seborrheic Dermatitis as it actually presents as redness, flakes and itching of the scalp as well as it can involve areas over the face..

You need to take a treatment that is a combination of antifungal and steroid ointments and lotions along with Keratolytic agents that helps in peeling away the flakes like Salicylic acid..

I would suggest you to consult your treating dermatologist and he can advise you to start washing your scalp with shampoo containing Ketoconazole, Coal tar, salicylic acid, zinc, selenium, sulfides etc..
You can be advised to massage the scalp with a steroid lotion to reduce itching and inflammation.

For face you should wash the face with a moisturiser based soap and water..
You can be advised Ketoconazole containing creams..
Ciclopirox containing ointment can also be advised..
You can be advised to apply Pimecrolimus containing cream on face so as to avoid steroids or a mild steroid lotion can be advised..
