Suggest Treatment For RA Despite Taking Prednisone And Methotrexate
I am currently taking Prednisone, generic form of Plaquenil, and Methotrexate for my R.A. I m having difficulty remaining asleep through the night, lots of tossing and turning and my brain in constant overdrive! My chiropractor suggested taking Melatonin a half hour before actually going to sleep. Is taking Melatonin safe with my current medications?

There are no interactions between melatonin and the other medications but there is a risk of interaction between the plaquenil and methotrexate.
This means that the melatonin can be safely added.
Plaquenil decreases the level of methotrexate by an unknown mechanism.
