Suggest Treatment For Obsessive–compulsive Personality Disorder

My son has a friend (a girl) with anorexia. She has been diagnosed with OCPD and has lost her job because of this condition. What help can she find to treat this problem? She doesn't think she needs help, but we can see her degeneration from week to week. She recently landed in the hospital because her body was so weak. Any help anywhere?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking your query at health care magic.
I understand your concern. I am Dr Alok Sinha, MD Psychiatry from India. I will try to help you with best of my effort.

As you told your son's friend is suffering with anorexia and Obsessive Compulsive personality disorder. Apparently she is so obsessed with her ideas/impulse that it has affected her occupational performance causing loss of job. The problem is further complicated when such type of patients have poor insight into their illness and they deny having any problem with them. As a result they don't even realize that how badly they need help of a mental health professional.
Despite her denial, being her well wisher you must help her fighting this disorder. She definitely need professional help. It is good that she has been admitted in a hospital. Apart from a good physician, I strongly suggest you to show her to a psychiatrist who may prescribe her psychotherapy and few medicines for cure.

I hope it answers your query. I wish her all the best.
