Suggest Treatment For IBS While On Cholestyramine

I have irritable bowl syndrome very badly.my doctor gave me cholestyramine packets 2 a day ,and I still had to take Imodium with it .the cholestyramine started not to work so good now I go threw a bottle of Imodium every 3 days that s 42 pills in a bottle . My question is is it safe to take that much ? It s the only thing that works for me . And I also train and eat well .been taking this many pills for 3years $16 a bottle. ?????

Hi,

You have been used excess dose of loperamide as per mentioned history.

In case of irritable bowel syndrome loperamide usually not given in excess amount and used only to control diarrhea for short time.

You can take more fiber diet in meal.

Avoid stress that can lead functional bowel problem.

Drink lots of water and practice regular exercise and yoga.
