Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,

This can happen with Hashimotos thyroiditis in early stages. This is due to the swelling in thyroid due to destruction.

If I were your treating physician I would first rule out upper respiratory infection and gastritis. If it is not there a trial of analgesics is all you need. In severe cases short courses of steroids (Prednisolone) for 1-2 weeks will help.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

With warm regards,

Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM)
Consultant Endocrinologist.
