Suggest Treatment For GERD, Excessive Salivation And Feeling Of Lump In Throat

I have really bad gerd. I ve been taking prilosec for years and just today started taking it twice a day. when should I consider having the surgery or are there other alternatives? Also related to the gerd I ve recently developed the feeling of a lump in my throat and excessive salivation. When will that go away? It s painful and makes me retch but goes away for a few minutes when I eat something.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.

The feel of a lump in the throat and regurgitation of food or drink are also symptoms of GERD. I do not think there are any contraindications to surgery at this point and would recommend it without a doubt.

Best wishes
