Suggest Treatment For Chalazion

I have a 1 year old that developed a chalazion. i took her to eye dr. and I was told if it doesnt go away he would surgically remove it. I never heard of this in searching I found this site. That has been helping me better understand.. thank you! its been about 2 months since she has this last 3 weeks i have been putting tropadex at night and in the morning. at the begging looked like it was getting better but now its at a stand still...but yesterday it developed a yellow head. It looks like it might burst eventually, is that what is suppose to happen. did the cream make that happen. the eye dr. i went to is a surgery pusher with all his patients. I dont want to put my 1 year old through anesthesia if i dont have to. will this pop? if so what would i do afterwards.could this effect her vision if i dont do the surgery. I want to do the right thing for her i m so torn any feedback will help. thank you. warm compresses i read are helpful i have not been able to do one she is a one year old its

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain Chalazion is the inflammation of the oil glands also known as Meibomian Gland present over the eyelid..
The yellow tip that is formed over the lump can be due to softening of the gland or infection..
In case if it is due to softening of the gland it may drain on its own but in case if it infection antibiotics oral as well as eye drops may be needed to be instilled..
I would suggest you to continue application of the ointment and in case if it is not resolved in next 2 days consult your paediatrician back and get her evaluated and treatment can be planned accordingly..
You should also start doing warm compresses as it will help in softening the bump faster and draining easily..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
