Suggest Treatment For COPD While On Prednisone

my husband has copd 85 years old. er a few days ago. 205 bp no air...cond. they gave him 5 days of 50 mg of prednisone for 5 days.. he is very sleepy all day is this normal. this is sat. this was on wed. also nebulized gluthathione. is that a good thoing. i am not familiar with it. gene is on plavik, statin, a few other things. Hello,

Acute exacerbation of COPD is often treated with corticosteroid (e.g prednisolone). The GOLD guidelines recommend 30–40 mg of oral prednisolone or its equivalent for a period of 10–14 days.If he is sleepy all the it may be due to CO2 narcosis.Do ABG analysis.Treatment with nebulized glutathione leads to a rapid resolution of the crisis, as well as a marked improvement in the chronic course of the disease.
