Hi and welcome to HCM. First of all, I would like to assure you that seizures are not some haunting things to be afraid of, they can be managed with your understanding and participation. Yes! you can help your son, when he experiences these seizures.
To treat it, I would want you to understand why they occur.
Generally, if you research , which I am sure you must have, they say that brain experiences seizures due to imbalanced electrical activities due to any head injury, low blood sugar or high fevers. Which is true, but what all this does is , damage the brain and the damaged part is not able to receive oxygen, so the basic pathophysiology is the lack of oxygen, and seizure is a way the brain knows to deal with this lack of oxygen supply. When seizure occurs, it causes increased regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) at the epileptogenic site, to meet the oxygen supply, it may take 3-4 min or more , it is dangerous if they occur for more than this. And when the need is met, the seizure stops !

Now the medications that help control seizures , work symptomatically, they calm down the nerves and the electrical activity, but are not efficient in restoring ample oxygen to the brain, and they make the brain dependent on the medicines, with other side effects.

But the good news is , there is a safer and more efficient way to deal with seizures especially , at this age for your son, not only will he benefit with it as the seizures slowly decrease but also, he will live without seizures for the rest of his life!

A technique called HBOT (Hyperbaric oxygen therapy ) is a medical treatment which enhances the body's natural healing process by inhalation of 100% oxygen in a total body chamber, where atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled. It is used for a wide variety of treatments usually as a part of an overall medical care plan.

You may need to find out HBOT centers near by where you live. And will require your son to undergo, a few sessions.

I hope this information is useful to you.
Take care and have a nice day :)
