Probably your son is suffering from narcolepsy. The usual dose of Metadate CD (
methylphenidate) is 20 – 30 mg per day in adult. Lower doses are used in children. So Metadate CD 20 mg is the perfect dose for your son. Its common side effects are
palpitation, pulse changes, tachycardia, depression, dizziness, drowsiness, fever, headache,
nervousness,
abdominal pain, anorexia, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. Metadate CD takes a long time to show its effect, may be months to a year. Because it causes drowsiness, so it impairs school performance. We are also using
amitriptyline and fluoxetine for treatment of narcolepsy. These are prescription based medicine. Consult your doctor for this treatment option.
