Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest The Dosage Of Valsartan-Hydrochlorothiazide
I have been prescribed Valsartan-Hydrochlorothiazide 320- 25 MG T. The doctor verbally told me take this 2x a day but on the bottle it reads 1 time a day. I was in the hospital for testing this week and the hospital pharmacist would not give me it 2x a day. But said to continue at home. I am concerned about the effects this might have on my kidneys.
There are two medications in the pill you are using. While hydrochlorthiazide can be taken 25-50 mg a day (1-2 tablets), Valsartan has the maximum dose of 320 mg a day so it is not justifiable or safe to get 2 tablets a day.
So I would advise you to get only one tablet a day as the pharmacist has already advised and as it is written in the bottle. Meanwhile you can call the doctor and clarify this with him as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
