Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I understand your concern, and would like to explain that
mitral valve prolapse is usually well tolerated, nevertheless many symptoms may appear during the course of disease.
As most of the patients are asymptomatic, there may also appear:
- Symptoms related to autonomic dysfunctions, like palpitations, arrhythmias, fatigue, anxiety,
exercise intolerance, panic attacks,
presyncope and even syncope, etc.
- Symptoms related to associated mitral regurgitations, like fatigue, dyspnea, orthopnea,
paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, clinical signs of
heart failure, etc.
- Sometimes, pectus excavatus, scoliosis or kyphosis, asthenic body habitus, etc. may be present.
When judging about a possible MVP implication of a certain clinical symptomatology, it is necessary to perform a good etiological-pathological correlation i neach case.
As some symptoms are related to psychological disorders, sometime is difficult to find responsible causes.
You need to discuss with your attending physician about these issues.
Hope to have been helpful to you! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
