Suggest Solution For Frequent Small Bowel Movements

Hello, my name is Debbie. I am 60 years old and am very fortunate to have enjoyed generally good health overall for all of my life. For years, I have had 2-3 bowel movements a day; however, for about the past 2 weeks, I have become very bloated with a feeling a fullness and some loss of appetite. I am still have 2-3 bm s daily, but they are very small in comparison to what I am accustomed to. I have taken otc gas relieving tablets (simethicone) but am not feeling better nor getting relief. My last colonoscopy was 10 years ago (I m due for one); and the dr told me at that time that there were some some signs of diverticulitis but that I could have my next colonoscopy at 60 and that he didn t need to see me unless I had any problems. I need to go ahead and make that undesirable appointment, but what can I do in the meantime to relieve the bloating and fullness?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Seems diverticular disorder as mentioned by the previous colonoscopy.
* Meanwhile, the following measures will help you for better recovery on a transient basis
- drink more liquids in sessions
- consume small amount of food at intervals
- probiotics with lacto bacillus and prebiotics with sacromyosis bullardiai
- rule out intestine infection via stool microscopy examination
- dietary care to avoid all spices, non veg, aerated drinks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
