Suggest Signs Indicating The Presence Of Chicken Pox

Hello. My step-daughter, who lives next door, just called me and told me that she believes that two of her four children are showing signs of chickenpox (that they have little red blisters all over). We are always around each other and the kids are always at the house and vice-versa. Am I contagious? Can I spread chickenpox or shingles to others? Do I need to disinfect the entire house? What is the time frame for this disease to be infectious? Thank you.

Hi,

Yes, chicken pox is contagious to those who never had it in there life and shingles is more dangerous so if any of you have not had it in previous years you should avoid the contact as much as possible for 7 days from the start of the infection. Chickenpox happens once in a life time

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rumshah, Dentist
