Suggest Remedy To Bring High Blood Pressure Under Control

Please help. I am a 46yr old male triathlete. Resting heart rate is generally 52bpm. I am vegetarian and my cholesterol number is 144. However, my blood pressure is always high. Its 150/95 consistently and during the day can be 160/100. It's rarely under 140/90. My mom and sisters are all on bp meds but they are also all overweight and don't eat healthy either. My grandmother had high bp as well and died at 85yrs old. I don't take in much salt and I am starting to limit caffeine now. I don't feel unusually stressed. I get about 6 hrs sleep per night. I have a desk job. I'm very reluctant to get on bp meds. I am on no medication of any kind other than ibuprofen every other day for soreness.

Hi welcome to HCM,
You seem to have prehypertension.Monitor your blood pressure for 3 consecutive weeks in 3 standard positions of standing, sitting and supine.
Take the avg value of the three,if its greater than 140/90,then you will be framed as hypertensive.Since you have strong family history of hypertension,it will most beneficial if you are started on antihypertensives.Regular physical exercise for 20min for 5 days a week with consumption of low fat diet can also help to control your blood pressure.Get a lipid profile after 6 months of life style management.I also recommend a screening 2D echo and ECG for further management.Consult a cardiologist for further queries.
Thank you
Take care
