Suggest Remedy For Weakness In Muscles While Taking Pyridostigmine

My husband was prescribed pyridostigmiine 60mg TID. He was prescribed this med because the hospital Dr. thought he may be sufferring from Myastenia Gravis. His condition did not get any better and he now has muscle weakness. The muscle weakness has been going on now for 5 weeks. His eye is still bad. How long will it take for his muscle weakness to go away? Should he see an opthomologist for his eye now. The hospital did an entire workup on him and ruled out everything from stroke to brain tumors.

Hi,

If your husband is experiencing muscle weakness while taking pyridostigmine, he should talk to his doctor immediately. Pyridostigmine is a medication used to treat muscle weakness in conditions such as myasthenia gravis, but it can also have side effects that affect muscle strength.

It's possible that your husband's muscle weakness is related to the medication, and his doctor may need to adjust the dosage or switch to a different medication. In some cases, it may take several weeks for the body to adjust to the medication and for the side effects to subside.

If your husband's eye is still affected, he may need to see an ophthalmologist for further evaluation and treatment. It's important to follow up with his doctor regularly to monitor his symptoms and adjust his treatment plan as needed.

In the meantime, your husband may benefit from physical therapy or occupational therapy to help improve his muscle strength and function. A healthy diet and regular exercise can also help promote overall muscle health.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
