Suggest Remedy For Vaginal Pain Post Intercourse

History: I m a female, 29 years old. History of ovarian cysts. I m in a long term, commited, monogamist, & long term relationship; currently 3 plus years. I was diagnosed with HSV 2 last year, negative HSV 1. My partner was then tested and was negative for HSV type 2; however positive HSV 1. I take Valtex religiously & we have unprotected sex. Problem; my partner (who is male) and I were having very passionate sex. It was very lubricated intercourse, me on bottom & legs wrapped around his waist. In the moment he grabbed the top of my head & thrusted so deep in my vaginal canal. Occurred just over 24 hours ago. Painful end to the sex, but not enough to go to the ER . But it s painful, a truthful 6 out of 10. Plus, clitoral pain started about with in the last 6 hours. Help please, Kristian

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As you are HSV2 positive, therefore, you might be having sores or blisters of vagina, which might cause pain during as well as post intercourse period. Also, vigorous thrusts during sex may also cause erosions or other minor injuries of vagina or cervix etc. during the act of intercourse, which may result in pain during or after intercourse.

Therefore, you are advised to take some anti pain or anti-inflammatory OTC drug to control the pain / inflammation etc. Usually the symptoms should go themselves, with time.

However, if the symptoms do not subside within a short period or become intense in severity, then you are advised to see your doctor and treatment done accordingly, as you may need some antibiotic or anti fungal treatment, if there is some bacterial or fungal infection etc. is also present.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
