Suggest Remedy For Tight Calf Muscles And Foot Pain

i suffer severely from tight calf muscles and foot pain. The left leg was injured and suffered torn cartilage and ruptured cruciate. Despite regular exercises taught by physiotherapists, and treatment from osteopath, sports injury clinic etc, little or no improvement has been achieved.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You injured the left leg and had torn cartilage and ruptured cruciate. Presently, you are suffering from tight calf muscles and foot pain. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an orthopedist. Get a repeat MRI done to study details on the ligament affected. You may need surgery to fix it, if the injury is causing your knee to buckle during everyday activities or if more than one ligament or the fibrous cartilage in your knee also is injured.

Your treating doctor / orthopedist may recommend fixation, allograft or reconstruction with ligament graft if required. It may take 3-4 months to recover post surgery. Other treatment like physiotherapy, knee orthosis, electrotherapy, pain management will follow post surgery. You may have to take the help of the walking aids to reduce stress post-surgery. Get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
