Suggest Remedy For Swollen Tongue And Painful Throat

I am thrity-nine and I have a swollen submandular gland. The area under my tongue on the left side is swollen and the back of my throat and tongue are painful, mostly when swallowing. My saliva i also thicker than usual. When I wake up my saliva is normal, but throughout the day it tends to get thicker, even whilst drinking a lot of water. Just want to make sure if it's some sort of normal sore throat or if I should see a doctor. Thanks!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems like swelling in submandibular salivary gland and the most common cause of it looks like Infection in the gland..
The pain in tongue and sore throat can be secondary to salivary gland infection leading to pus formation and causing infection in throat on swallowing it with saliva..
For confirmation you need to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray and saliva culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take Ibuprofen or tylenol for pain, do warm saline gargles, cool compresses over the swollen gland and for tongue pain apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
