Suggest Remedy For Swollen Glands In The Throat

Ive had swollen glands in my throat for about a week. very painful when swallowing but not sore. What could that be? I was sick with upper respiratory and cough for about 4 weeks and was on two rounds of anbiotics.. But those symptoms are gone except for an occasional cough

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swollen glands along with difficulty in swallowing seems to be due to throat infection leading to Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis and can be either due to bacterial or Viral infection..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen or Naproxen, do warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
You should suck throat lozenges and chew a Vitamin C pellet..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Sip on plenty of water throughout the day..
You can also gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine before meals to ease in swallowing..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
