Suggest Remedy For Swollen Ankles

For the past few days my left foot/ankle have been swollen, does go down a bit, after sleeping all night. I am going to be seeing a surgeon about my gallbladder, as it is diseased. Would that have anything to do with the swelling of my left foot/ankle?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com!

I really appreciate your concern. Unilateral ankle swelling occurs mostly due to injury or any abnormality in vessels of that limb. If a person with similar symptoms comes to my clinic I would ask her about whether there is pain in the ankle joint or not, whether there is any dilated vessels on the left side of the limb.
If there is pain and history of strain or sprain then I would advise you have X-ray of ankle joint to be done. Liver cirrhosis and failure can lead to bilateral ankle swelling not unilateral as in your case.
Hope my answer has solved your query. Take Care.

Thank you.

Best Regards.
