Suggest Remedy For Sudden Swelling In Face And Lips

I ve recently experienced - 3 months ago and yesterday sudden acute swelling on the left side of my face starting with my lips and spreading rapidly, eventually to my right side of the face as well. I went to the local ER and was diagnosed with Parotitis. This kind of makes sense. No fever and no pain. Heart is good. MD gave me a Toridol injection in the glut to relieve the swelling. Any advice would be much appreciated! Brad Macumber

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain sudden swelling of the lips and side of face that has recurred in 3 months seems to be due to some allergic reaction and not Parotitis as in case if it is parotitis it will not recur in 3 months, moreover it is commonly bilateral and will not cause swelling of the lip or start with the lip..
It most probably seems like an allergic reaction and I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and also advise you to undergo allergic tests like RAST test , Patch test and food challenge test to rule out the exact cause of allergic reaction and treat you according to the diagnosis..
As of now you can take anti allergics like Allegra or Benadryl..
You can do cool compresses over the lip and face..
Drink plenty of water to faster wean off the effect of allergen..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
