Suggest Remedy For Stomach Ache After Colonoscopy

Hi-thank you-just had a colonoscopy (routine 10 yrs last week. All good-One non cancerous polyp removed. No bleeding or bowel issues but seems like my stomach hurts a little by the afternoon-can t tell if I m hungry or too full- or my belts just too tight (which it is) sitting at my desk. NEVER had a stomach ache -ever--just wondering if it s a coincidence-or will correct once I get back on my fiber supplement (physiluim husks) routine? Andy

Hi,

Noted your history of mild pain in abdomen after colonoscopy.
The probable causes can be as following:
Due to cleaning of bowel the bacterial flora of intestine is is also washed out and thus one can have mild intestinal pain.
This may be helped by pre and probiotic, addition of curds.
Intestine infection also can cause the pain hence get the stool tests done and get treated if there is any positive finding.
This surely will pass away but it is better to consult your Doctor or a General Surgeon for clinical examination so that a proper cause can be found if any and treated well.
Mild antispasmodic may help for the pain, loosen the belt, have normal diet as asked by your Doctor.
Watch for stool color, smell and consistency and let your Doctor know about this too.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
