Suggest Remedy For Soreness At The Bottom Of My Ear Lobe

Hi, I went to the doctor a little over two weeks ago because I had some soreness right at the bottom of my earlobe on my neck. If you placed your finger on your neck with the top of your finger touching the earlobe, that is where mine hurt. I did not pay too much attention to it until I noticed that my throat was feeling a little sore, which made me start felling around y neck. I noticed the soreness going down from the bottom of my earlobe and into my neck. The Dr. examined me and told me he thought I had mastoiditis, an infection in the sponge bone behind my ear. He prescribed me amoxicillin. The immediate sysmtoms seemed to go away and I was fine for a week after I finished them. Then I became sick with a cold....stuffy nose, sneezing, watery, itchy eyes, etc. Went back to the Dr. yesterday and he prescribed ciprofloxacin and an antihistamine. I still had a little discomfort in my throat area, which prompted me to look back there, and I noticed some tiny red dots on the right, back side of my tongue. I really have to stick my tongue out and far to the side in order to see them and there seems to be a few. Then this morning, I noticed that one of the gland on the right side of my neck is a little swollen and hurts. My question is this, should I go to the hospital and have it checked out? I do not have insurance and feel that it may be something worse. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to hcm,
Usually when there is infection in the throat ,it will cause local lymphadenopathy or swelling of the lymph gland nearby and it will subside while the infection gets cured. I think for you all your symptoms will settle down in a week.
Continue antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor.
Hope for a speedy recovery.
With regards
Dr.Amarnath
