Suggest Remedy For Sore, Tender Area Behind Last Molar

I have a sore area behind my last lower molar where my wisdom tooth should have come in but never did. It is tender to the touch and gets really sore after I brush and floss. Do I have an impacted wisdom tooth that should have been removed years earlier and is now causing me problems at 55 yrs of age?

Hi!
Welcome to HCM~
I am of the opinion that you are suffering from pericoronitis due to impacted lower molar. It is associated with a number of complications involving the ear, eyes, and the mandible bone itself. It may lead on to alveolar abscess, chronic infection of mandible or its fracture if left untreated.
Kindly consult an oral maxillofacial surgeon for proper evaluation and management.
Take care.
