My baby is 10 days old and the day before I gave birth I developed a cold sore on both my top and bottom lip (i've dealt with them my entire life). I avoided kissing her, used good hand washing techniques and made sure she didn't touch my mouth. Yesterday I noticed a red bump above her top lip that appeared to be a baby pimple. This morning there are 3 bumps that seem like they may be starting a cluster...she has no fever, eating good and doesn't appear to be in any distress. What should I do?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain as you have active eruptions of cold sores over your lips then there is a possibility that your infant is getting the same infection over her lip and you need to consult a Paediatrician and get her evaluated to get ruled out for the exact cause of the infection and in case if it is cold sore proper treatment and homely remedies will be advised by the Paediatrician and antiviral medication will be given as the infection can cause infection in lungs and brain and can be fatal so better you can get her evaluated and treatment can be done immediately..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora.
