Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain After A Sprained Ankle

I have had ankle pain off and on for a month now and dr. Did x-ray and said it was a sprained ankle. Never told me what to do. Pain comes and goes like snapping a rubber band then hurt to put pressure on foot. Pain severe one night that kept me up. What should I do . When on my feet it hurts. Mostly on outside of foot but noticed the inside is doing the same thing . Thanks for your time . Christine gorham

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You need to : (1)stay off the ankle as much as possible
(2) a compression bandage would help if there is any swelling
(3)elevation of the limb
(4)anti inflammatory pain killers would also help- eg ibuprofen , cataflam or naproxen
