Suggest Remedy For Severe Mood Swing And Itching In The Abdominal Area

I had a cortisone shot in my left knee last Friday, after fluid was removed. I do suffer from RA and take Enbrel Injections weekly and am supposed to take Methotrexate shots well, but I don t take every week because they are hard on my system. After my cortisone shot, I became very on edge with everyone. I actually could see my mood swing...I was mean. I ve also been experiencing a ton of itching in my abdomen area, the lower portion is the worse. I m not sleeping well either. Please help me! Thanks!

Cortisone shots are not supposed to do this because the overall amount is relatively small (the amount in one moderate oral dose) and should be stuck in one spot. Nevertheless, I commonly see this. While THIS could be psychological and a placebo would work, the people I see who have their diabetes go haywire from a cortisone shot are definitely due to the medication not panic. We will assume this with you also. Benadryl is good for itching but mainly it is fast, helps sleep and does not interact with medications and is not a steroid. The mood is going to have to work itself out. Medications can be given; they have more side effects than the steroids. Make certain there is NOT an infection in the joint from the injection which will have symptoms, mood effects and can kill the joint or rarely you.
