Suggest Remedy For Recurring Infection In Ear Due To Wearing Hearing Aids

I m a 61 year old whom has ear infection continuos, I had a lot as a child, but now I ve had to start wearing hearing aids & the ear aches keep coming back & so I have to quit wearing my hearing aids till it clears up, but every time I start wearing them the infection come back & it s very painful.... Should I just quit wearing my hearing aids ?

Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Your history is very classical, you are 61, have continuous recurring infection of the ear on earning the hearing aid. Once you stop wearing it becomes dry.
This indicates the following possibilities:
You have mastoiditis which gets reactivated on using hearing aid as it increases local temperature and humidity.
You may have attendant medical problems like diabetes.

I would advise you the following:
First of all get all the relevant blood and urine tests to rule out any medical problem, anemia, diabetes and so on.
Secondly, get a High Resolution CT scan of the mastoids to know the exact position of hte mastoiditis, whether surgery is required or not.
If so plan for a Surgery to clear the diseased part so that you will remain with dry ear.
Then it will be easy to use the hearing aid, the best way is the external one.
so that the problem of recurrent infection will just vanish off.
