Suggest Remedy For Rash And Sore Throat

good night doc how are you? I took my 8 yr old to the doc today for what appears to be an allergic reaction that caused him to have rashes, bumps, sore throat etc. He was prescribed him prednisone 20 mg. I am worried however of the usage instruction of 3 tablets in the morning. 3 tablets at once for my 8 yr old? that just doesn t seem right.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Your concern regarding dosage of medication to your 8 year old is obvious.
However, do not worry.
The dose to children is calculated based on the body weight of the child e.g. dose per kg body weight.
Thus, your doctor too has calculated the dose of the drug on the basis of body weight.
You can safely give 3 tablets to your son, however, stay in touch with your doctor because the drug dosage has to be titrated or decreased slowly over a period of time once the response to drug starts appearing.

Thanks and take care
