Suggest Remedy For Raised Thickened Nail After Fungal Treatment

I had laser treatment for toenail fungus one year ago. the treatment seemed to work but now I have a nail that has raised up fromthe cuticle and is very thick. Upper portion of nail is totally loose and discolored. Podiatrist tells me the fungus is gone and eventually nail will fall off. However, it looks awful and has been looking like this for the past six months. the raised thickened nail just doesn t want to come off.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello, if the onychomycosis is cured, the new nail growth will be normal, toenails growth at slower rate than finger nail, the normal toenail growth is 1 cm/6months, so, to completely form a toenail takes 12-18 months..the changes of discoloration and thickening are pathological damage by fungus, so , even if the fungus is removed, the changes remain unless replaced by the new growth.
