Suggest Remedy For Palpitations And Breathlessness While Having Common Cold

I have a common cold however I m really struggling with breathlessness and palpitations, the cold itself isn t bothering me too much it s just the breathing! I m finding it quite difficult to talk without having to stop to catch my breath in the middle of sentences! I can take deep breaths but even after I feel as though I m not getting enough oxygen. Is there anything I can do/take to help it?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have palpitations and breathlessness while having common cold is due to common cold allergy. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should take antibiotics such as Levofloxacin or Azithromycin for 5-7 days. Take antihistamines such as cetrizine 10mg along with paracetamol. You should take decongestants and mucolytic agents. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. You should take anti inflammatory medication as well. You should use throat lozenges and go rinses with warm saline water. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should get blood test , throat swab test done. You should get an x ray of the chest and pulmonary function tests done as well to know the exact extent of infection. You should visit cardiologist as well and get ECG done to find out any cardiac pathology. Gargle with saline rinses.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
