Suggest Remedy For Painful Lump And Pressure On Shin Due To Injury

I got kicked on my shin very hard during a soccer game and got a lump on my leg. I continued to play for 2 more days and my leg till then became bruised from the spot I got kicked down to my ankle. I then visited the doctor and had X-rays done but was told there wasn t a fracture and that I just had to get some rest and ice it. 9 months later I still have the squishy lump and hurts when I press on it. I ve recently began to play soccer again and when I put my shin guards on and after running during practice my shin begins to hurt and feels super pressured and can barely move it. After sitting for a while it stops hurting terribly and I can walk on it. I ve been icing my leg recently also but the lump does not go away. I m not sure what I have to do or where to go from here to better my shin.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query, read and understood the problems.
Icing on any injury and particularly over the Shin of leg works only if applied within 6 hours of injury.
It is good that there is no fracture.
Squishy lump even after 9 months which is tender (pain on pressure) indicates that the hematoma must have got organized.
The leg-guard rubs and presses on the pre-existing lump will definitely give pain.

I would advise you the following:
Get an MRI of the leg to decide the nature of the lump you have, to see for the possibility of getting it operated so that you get rid of one problem.
Keep the leg in elevated position whenever you are in bed or sofa.
Take a course of an anti-inflammatory medicines for 14 days along with PPI.
Consult an Orthopedic Surgeon for a second opinion.
I find this answer helpful
