Suggest Remedy For Painful Interstitial Cystitis

I have been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis for about 3 years. Am taking Elmiron alongside small dosage of antibiotic. Very bad pain for couple weeks now, like 7 - 7.5. Constant. Got appt with urologist but not till next Thursday. Any suggestions for downsizing the pain level? Am on appropriate diet. Tried acetaminophen, motrin, oxycodone, but no luck. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern.
In bladder infections there is a chronic inflammation of mucosa and submucoas of bladder. autoimmune conditions, Poor pelvic hygiene after sex, genetic factors, stress, play main role in development of cystitis.
You should o consult the urologist for better and proper treatment
Meanwhile take following advice: Avoid stress and start relaxation exercises,
Drink plenty of fluids, avoid coffee, tea, alcohol, citrus fluid, chocolate, empty the bladder completely, maintain pelvic hygiene
You take medicine like amitryptaline , tramadol, septran with nitrofurantoin, potasium citrate, prednisolone
If not responds to above medicine you should try intravesicle BCG injcetion that treat the cystitis by cell mediated immune mechanism.
If it will also not responds hydro distention and urinary diversion is the last option.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
