Suggest Remedy For Pain At Night Due To Severe Hip Arthritis

I have severe hip arthritis - bone on bone and including massive labral tear and need to have a hip replacement soon. I exercise 1 1/2 hours daily - I do heavy weights program deadlifts squats due to my conditioning for 2 months downhill skiing each year. My hip range of motion and strength are excellent however I have excruciating night time pain. Recently I started including 20 mins elliptical machine cardio (done daily on non strength training days) after my weight training sessions. it has significantly mitigated my night time pain and I wanted to know if this was due to increasing joint synovial fluid (on my MRI I was told I have little synovial fluid in the joint)

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
If you had developed arthritis then whether you have synoviyal fluid or not, it does not mater as it is irreversible damage to your cartilage and sooner or latter you will need replacement. I would suggest you to avoid hip replacement surgery as late as possible as artificial hip has limited life span and maximum reported till now is 30 years. Any heavy workout or any weight lifting will further shorten it so you will not be able to do it after hip replacement.
I would suggest you to take a second opinion about your hip replacement and if possible send your hip x ray to me also as I do not think if there is so much movement and only night pain then you need arthroscopy surgery at such early stage.
