I have a history of blood clots in my legs and I have a purplish spot that has been there for a couple of years. I think it may be broken blood vessel s. I have some pitting edema in my leg and foot. When I got up to take the trash out it was starting to hurt in my foot right where the purplish spot is.
I can understand your concern for pain and purplish spot in legs.
As per your description it appears to be "Vasculitis". This is one of the common conditions affecting the blood vessels of the local area. In this condition there is inflammation of the small blood vessels which leads to red purple spots and pain at the area.
In my patients with your kind of condition I generally give oral steroids in tapering dose. I also suggest to take the killer such as paracetamol to relieve the pain. I suggest you to meet a dermatologist for best guidance.
My all best wishes for the early recovery.
