Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 34 and i have had muffled hearing for almost 2 weeks. it seems like there is fluid in my ear because sounds are different when i tilt my head. i was sick. any suggestions on actions to take to remedy my hearing? its quite embarrassing having to ask people to repeat themselves when talking to me... thanks
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain muffled hearing for 2 weeks along with feeling of fluid moving inside the ear and hearing loss seems to be most probably due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum and blocked eustachian tube..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI, otoscopy etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics, oral as well as nasal decongestants likeXylometazoline nasal sprays. Along with it steam inhalation and chewing chewing gum can help.. In case of no improvement in 15 days surgical drainage by making a small incision through the eardrum can help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
