Hi. I have a spongy lump in the middle of the back of my neck which appears when I put my head back. Shen I straighten my neck it disappears. It's like I can push it into the muscles. My neck hurts when I extend it back but the lump does not hurt. Do you know what this is?
It may be a lymph nodes or some benign skin lesion. Its hard to tell not being able to examine it. The best you can do is to have an ultrasound of this area. If the lymph nodes will be diagnosed as enlarged, biopsy should be done. Benign lesion (like lipoma) can be removed with small surgical procedure.
Hope this will help. Regards.
