Suggest Remedy For Lump On Lips After Injury

Hi. I had a car accident two weeks ago and I bit part of my lower lip which caused a piece of my lip to be seperated. The surgeon used stitches to sew it back in. The stitches have now dissolved and the lip looks healed but has a lump? Looks like a coldsore and almost feels like I could pop it and drain fluid? It is a different colour from the rest of my lip and i'm worried it will permanently stay like this?

Hello,
Thanks for the query,

This is an inflammatory response of body or secondary inflammation . It could also be possible that hematoma is there .

Take anti inflammatory and analgesic like ibuprofen (if not allergic ) or acetaminophen for 3-5 days .

Give cold compresses 3-4 times a day .

Keep cleaning it with betadine .

If condition doesn't get better in 4-5 days then consult dermatologist or your surgeon for proper examination and to find ou if there is infection.

Doctor may clean he wound with hydrogen peroxide .

He/she may prescribe antibiotic course (cephalexin ) for a week .

Wishing you a good health.
Thank you
