Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a cough since mid-December. It's worse at night when I'm lying down. It is mostly productive and I typically swallow the phlegm as I'd be spitting all day long if I didn't. When I do spit, it's just clear and bubbly. I have been able to bring up a very small portion of brown only a few times. It's frustrating for both me and my husband (when he's trying to sleep!). I've had bronchitis many times as a child and the most recent was when I was 8 months pregnant (Aug. 2007 - due to outside cleaning of windows & inhaling the cleaner) and it turned into pneumonia. I coughed uncontrollably (day and night) then for a few months (even fracturing a rib) until I finally started using Advair which took the cough completely away!! I used Advair for a few years when I knew I wouldn't cough anymore. Just a little background history. I'm not sure if what I have is worthy of going to the doctor or not. I don't have a fever but am sluggish as I'm not sleeping well at night due to the coughing. Loss of appetite midday due to what I believe is a stomach full of mucous. Stomach not liking all the cough meds and cough drops anymore!! Again, this has been going on for almost a month. Thank you!
