Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 4 year old for the last week has been waking up with leg pain. When I ask where he points behind his knee. It is so severe he cannot walk on them and when he does he cannot straighten it out. Usually it wears off as the day goes on, but today it has not. He couldn t even play his soccer game today. I have given him ibuprofen and heating pad. He is not crying anymore with it but he still will not straighten or walk on them.
Leg pain in kids are usually related to growing pains. They are very normal and there is nothing to be worried. You can give Tylenol to relieve it. If the pain continue, you can do an x-ray of the leg for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
