Suggest Remedy For Itchy Body And Pale Stools Post Intake Of PPIs For GERD

Good Morning. please can you help. I ha e been on and off PPIs for the last two years. I have now been prescribed Nectizole 40mg and gaviscon for Gerd and Chronic stomach inflamation. done a stream of blood tests and scans and everything else was normal other than the endoscopy which revealed too much acid and inflamation. the Ppi s make me itch very badly and now have noticed my stools have become very pale. can this be an effect of the medication? I do not have a gallbladder it was removed 5 years ago.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have itchy body and pale stools post intake of PPIs for GERD . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are due to abnormal functioning of sphincter of esophagus . I would suggest you to eat light and non spicy specially at night , eat at least one hour before going to bed , take light walk after eating and keep your head elevated while sleeping. Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ambulatory acidity test along with endoscopy and x-ray of upper digestive track . Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers , proton pump inhibitor . Keep your head elevated , do not eat food ,which can cause swelling of intestinal mucosa like spicy food and drink plenty of water with honey in it .
