Suggest Remedy For Irritation And Soreness When Urinating

for the last week, i have been experiencing frequent and sudden urges to urinate. when I do urinate, not much comes out. This feels similar to a UTI, but is not one. I went to a urologist and tried explaining how i felt, but i dont think she understood. It feel like the area where my urine comes out (urethra) is irritated/sore/extremely sensitive causing the urge to urinate. she put me on Prosed and Sulfa for 3 days. I started them yesterday and when I woke up this morning, I felt amazing with no pain urinating. But as the day progressed, the urge, frequency and discomfort became more prevailent. I don t know what to do

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possible urethritis is most likely.

As already sulfa has been prescribed, in my clinic, I recommend using fluoroquinolones or macrolides for wider coverage of pathogens and faster recovery.

Hydration maintenance with potassium citrate alkalizer help greatly to relieve the issue at earliest.

Obvious abstinence from sex if active is mandatory.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
