I Have got a juvederm dermal filler inserted for my mental crease and it has led to some post inflammatory pigmentation. Though most of it got resolved within 3 weeks but slight bit is left so can u tell me whether it will go or not and what should I do
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I think the dark color is due to tyndall effect, which is due to too superficial injection/ placing of hyaluronic acid filler. Tyndall effect is when the injected filler appears bluish due to differential scattering of light. The discoloration can be easily concealed with a concealer. This bluish discoloration is self resolving but it may take another 2-3 months as the filler degrades naturally. However, resolution can be hastened by injecting hyaluronidase, at the site of filler injection. This infection would degrade the hyaluronic acid filler. I suggest that you talk to your dermatologist for the needful
