General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A hernia can occur any time after the C-section. The following steps may reduce your risk of an incisional hernia after surgery:
- Don't overexert yourself
- Take steps to prevent and treat constipation to avoid straining
- Seek treatment for any persistent cough.

If the symptoms continue, I suggest to see a surgeon for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
