Suggest Remedy For Frequent Vomitting With Slimy Substnaces
My 1 yr old son started vomiting at 6am today. The vomit looked to be normal throw up. He continued on vomiting several more times from 6-10am but the vomit turned to a clear slimy substance. I have called our family Dr and was advised to watch for dehydration and fever. Im curious what the slimy clear substance is....He also hasn't wanted to drink much but am offering pedialyte several times.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. 1 year child having continuous vomiting should be worried about as he can go into dehydration very fast. Hence I would advise you to take to the Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations as advised. Also watch for the quantity of the electrolyte solution you are giving and the amount of vomitus. If needed he may need intravenous fluid and electrolyte replacement and watch for the symptoms and signs so that a proper treatment an be done in time and avoid all the related complications. The slimy change in vomitus is due to stomach's try to produce more mucus for protection of gastric mucosa. So do not worry about it unless there is redness, coffee colored or so.
