Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 41 yrs old male. Last December, I had my BP checked and it was 170/100 and the doctor advised me to start taking BP medicine ( Amlokind H ) for 30 days. I had my BP checked again after 2 months and it was 120/100 and he advised me to continue the same medicine. Last week i had my BP checked and it was 100/80 and the doctor changed the medicine and prescribed Amlokind 5 mg . Is it necessary for me to continue the medicine as my BP is normal. My bloodsugar & cholestrol levels are normal and SGPT & SOGT is 190 & 210 respectively.KIndly advise.
Hi, thank you for asking healthcare magic I understand your concerns. Most of the drugs taken for high blood go to control the blood pressure and in the absence of these drugs, the blood pressure tends to go up. The fact that your blood pressure is normal now does not mean that it would remain normal. If you stop taking the drugs, the blood pressure would increase again. I would advice you continue the drugs as prescribed by your treating doctor. The drugs seem to be effective. Concerning SGPT and SOGT, the values are above the normal values. This may be cause by the drugs you are taking for high blood pressure. I would suggest you discuss that with your treating doctor.
I hope that helps I wish you well
