Suggest Remedy For Flu-like Symptoms With Swollen Throat

I have had ful like symptoms and a swollen throat for three days. I went to my doctor today and tested negative for kidney infection, flu, and strep. He gave me steroids for my throat and the swelling went down but I noticed a lump on the back of my uvula. Should I go back to my doctor? Could it be a sign of something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.

Swelling can be because of an abscess formation. In such case antibiotic therapy would be required. I would suggest you visit back to your primary physician for confirmation. Meanwhile:
> Take lots of fluids( water, juices)
> Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health.
